Slyce is a bill splitter for Android, iOS and web that scans receipts for free, lets friends claim their own items from a link, supports live editing at the table and has no daily expense limit. Splitwise limits free users to 3 expenses per day and puts receipt scanning and currency conversion in Pro. Both keep friend balances and simplify debts.

The night one friend pays for everything
There is always one person who puts everything on their card and then works out the split alone the next day. In Splitwise, that person enters the expense and decides who owes what. In Slyce, they scan the bill, share a claim link and let their friends pick what they had. The bill is finished by the people who ate the food.
Live mode for the table
When everyone is together, live mode puts the whole table on one bill at once. Anyone can assign items, so two or three people can complete it for a group of ten. Nobody waits for one person to get through the receipt.
Receipts: free scanning vs. a Pro feature
In Slyce you photograph the receipt and the items are read for you. Scanning is part of the free plan, with a monthly allowance; Slyce Pro removes the cap. Splitwise lists receipt scanning and itemizing scanned receipts as Pro features, so on the free plan you type each line yourself.
3 expenses a day vs. no daily limit
Splitwise's free plan lets you add 3 expenses per day, and Pro lifts the limit. Three is easy to hit on a trip, when you log breakfast, a taxi, tickets and dinner before the day is over. Slyce has no daily cap. Its free plan has monthly allowances for shared bills and scans instead, and Pro removes those too.
One set of numbers, from the bill to the group
Slyce keeps three layers consistent, so you can start from whichever one you care about:
- Bill. Open a bill and see every item, who had it and each person's share, including tax and tip.
- Friend. Open a friend and see the one-to-one balance between the two of you across every bill and every group you share, in one place.
- Group. Open a group and see its balances and a single settlement plan with the fewest payments, in the group currency.
Bills do not need a group. A one-time dinner with people you will never add to a group is a normal bill, and it still counts in your friend balances.
Currencies and settling up
Slyce supports 140+ currencies. A multi-currency group settles in a single group currency with one plan. In Splitwise, currency conversion is a Pro feature. Both apps simplify debts so the group makes as few payments as possible. After that, Slyce Pay opens the payment app or bank details your friend has set up and records the settlement; Splitwise integrates Venmo and PayPal in the US and Paytm in India.
Where Splitwise is the better fit
- Everyone already uses it. If your flatmates or friends have years of history in Splitwise, switching has a cost.
- US payment integration. Venmo and PayPal inside the app is convenient if that is how your group pays.
Moving over? Start your next trip or dinner in Slyce. You can use both side by side without migrating old history.
